Example of related Digipaks

This is a example of a type of music which relates to my digipak. Madonna is the queen of pop and i did not copy her sens of idea. However i followed the same kind of technique of having a photo of the artist on the front. I feel his is very appealing and manages top grab the audience or the artists particular fans.

This is a literal example of what i wanted my digipak to look like.I fort this would be more considered and better if i did a 2 page spread instead. The idea that there was a picture on one half of the digipak i thought was a really good idea.
Mariah was a idol who i feel was an example of an artist who had a very good digipak. Her digipak i feel is designed really well this is because it has a lot on  it however it is very simple . The main features are the photo which immediately catch the eye of the artist especially the fact that each photo on the front is a replica however of Mariah in different positions, despite the fact that they are in the same outfit. The back page also contains a song list and also a photo of mirah this photo in comparison to the rest are very sexual . These kind of photo's are very attractive and help to sell the digipak and this is because they are strong .

Mock Up Of Digipak

I did about 3 different mock ups which i didn't like so i got rid of them an made this my final one even though it was incomplete

Photos I Plan To Use

These are the photos we took just before making the digipak as they were the ones we planned on using. We decided to shoot simple head shots because we feel that they portray the genre better than having our artist dressed up in fancy clothes on flashy backgrounds

Do's and Don'ts

Do
Use clear fonts
Use clear photos which are in focus
Use photos that are appropriate for your genre and shape of page
Use and appropriate fonts that also suits your genre
Be careful where the font is placed. Make sure it is clear and legible
Follow the conventions of the 3 colour rule
Think about the use and integration of fonts, text and language and images
Use appropriate industry logos and conventions : barcodes, date, copyright, titles and artist name

Dont
Stretch images
Use layer styles
Place text across the artist's face
Use fonts because you like it
Feel you need a separate photo on every panel

Short list of fonts, colours, layout and design ideas

I would describe the genre of my music video as being pop/indie. This s why i decided to base my digipak on simple natural colours. I plan to use earthy tones rather than bright colours because they don't seem relevant to my genre. My digipak will be very simple and straight to the point with just a simple image of Marie's face. I feel that this makes the consumer feel more in touch with her. After thinking of my idea i was researching album covers on the internet and i saw that Jordin Sparks's album cover was similar to what i was aiming for.  Its simple and straight to the point yet appealing.

Final Advertisement Design

This is the front cover of my advertisement cover. It is different to how i visioned it at first but Ive kept it very simple and made the important information big so it can be easily read.

Final Digipack Design.

Front cover and Back cover of my album.

Inside cover of my album

Both inside and the out side of my album cover i have changed a little when it comes to the colour scheme. i originally said i was going to use red but felt that the colour clashed with the cream. I've kept the same text and the same back cover picture but i have changed the front cover picture because the other one was too much of a close up. Even though our genre is pop and usually bright colours are used to express the genre, I've tried to keep my cover calm to focus more on the artist and the song Use Somebody. I have taken a picture of the rose we used in the video and Incorporated it in the album cover.
